I think, build, render and write, mostly from Barcelona, sometimes from Lisbon, occasionally from wherever a laptop opens without complaint.

The work arrives in five registers. And Then They Create Us is the press, where essays on what technology does to the people holding it are printed like risograph plates. Sometimes Aesthetic is the studio, for brand identity, art direction and web design with a standing quarrel against default minimalism. Epistemic Net is the net, for the cooler arguments about how knowing actually works. The Retinue is the practice, which composes a working retinue for one principal at a time and keeps quiet about it. We Create Tools is the toolshop, for the systems I could not buy and so built.

Underneath all five sits the same suspicion, held with more confidence than I should probably admit: we create tools, and then they create us. Most of my adult life has been an experiment run from both ends of that sentence. The scaffolding I think with was built deliberately, piece by piece, and the builder keeps being rebuilt by it.
